The essence of the Dodge Neon is that it is fun-to-drive
and it is a great value. Base models take care of the value
part quite easily, rounding in with a pleasantly shocking
price tag, while the SRT-4 will simply blow your socks off
with its performance.
The SRT-4 just happens to be the second fastest of all
the Dodge cars. It was given a power boost last year, reducing
its 0-60 mph time to just 5.8 seconds.
With plenty to choose from, what are you waiting for?
Available Models
The 2005 Dodge Neon is offered in three model trims: SE,
SXT and SRT-4.
Interior Features
The four-door 2005 Dodge Neon sits five passengers. But
they might have to squeeze if they're large.
Base SE models are the value-oriented offering of the lot.
Their standard package includes cloth upholstery, front
bucket seats, a center console, cupholders and an AM/FM/cassette
player.
Move up to the SXT and you get air conditioning, power
mirrors, front windows and door locks, remote keyless entry
and an AM/FM/CD player.
Exterior Features
The 2005 Dodge Neon SXT has a new SRT Design package for
2005. That it is expressive is an understatement, as it
features a power bulge hood, new fog lamps complementing
a unique front fascia and a dual exhaust and spoiler to
highlight the rear fascia.
A MOPAR ground effects package may be added to create a
sportier image and to enhance the vehicle's visual impact.
In addition, an optional sport appearance package is available
on vehicles equipped with the optional spoiler. The package
includes unique 15-inch aluminum wheels, fog lamps, a unique
color center stack and automatic shifter bezel with the
automatic transaxle.
Performance
Under the hood of entry-level Neon SEs and midlevel SXTs
is a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine. It produces 132
horsepower and an additional 130 lb-ft of torque. 5-speed
manual and 4-speed automatic transmission are both available.
Then there's the SRT-4, which easily leaves the other two
in the dust. Dodge engineers refined the engine calibration
of the 2.4-liter intercooled turbo model, boosting the output
to 230 horsepower and 250 lb-ft of torque. The result is
the type of speed mentioned above.
The 2005 SRT-4 also features a torque-sensing limited-slip
differential as standard equipment, and it has specially
tuned sport suspension and brakes.
Safety and Security
The 2005 Dodge Neon includes a LATCH child seat anchorage
system, child-protection door locks and an emergency internal
trunk lid release. Front side airbags are optional.
