The 2003 GMC Envoy is a mid-size SUV newly available this
year with a V8 engine. A 4-door with solid towing ability
and a good deal of room for 5 passengers and plenty of gear,
the 2003 GMC Envoy will certainly fit the bill for the SUV
buying demographic who want rugged ability in a stylish
and luxurious package.
Available Models
The 2003 GMC Envoy is offered with SLE and SLT trim levels
while the XL model, a longer version, is available this
year for those in need of more room.
Interior Features
The 2003 GMC Envoy is a very powerful SUV and has ample
towing power but this doesn't mean that the designers haven't
done a great job on interior features and styling. The 2003
GMC Envoy is a comfy and spacious ride with all the basic
needs satisfied, even at the base SLE trim level. For example,
cruise control, air conditioning with dual-zone manual controls,
power steering, windows, door locks and a tilt leather-wrapped
steering wheel combine with cloth upholstery, front bucket
seats with lumbar adjustment, second row split folding seat,
remote keyless entry and an AM/FM/CD player. Remote tailgate
and rear-window releases and automatic headlights add to
what you can do from the Cab as an extra convenience feature.
The SLT adds to this list with leather upholstered, 8-way
power front seats, memory settings (driver seat and mirror),
dual-zone automatic climate control, steering-wheel radio
and climate controls, rear radio controls, rear headphone
jacks, and an OnStar system with one-year service (roadside
assistance, emergency services). Meanwhile, for better visibility,
an automatic day/night rearview mirror is in place inside.
An overhead console holds the trip computer, compass and
universal garage-door opener.
Exterior Features
The 2003 GMC Envoy has a number of great exterior features
as well; including a rear lift gate, rear privacy glass,
roof rails, fog lights and cornering lights. Additional
value added includes the full-size spare 8.5 tire, platform
hitch and alloy wheels. On the SLT heated, powered side
view mirrors come complete with turn-signal lights and a
full roof rack.
Performance
The Envoy, as mentioned before, has a lot of power to face
most challenging pulling or driving tasks. It comes from
a 4.2-liter V6 engine capable of 275 horsepower at 6000rpm
and 275lb-ft of torque at 3600rpm. 4-speed automatic transmissions
do the shifting, capable of 15/21 mpg (city/hwy).
Other mechanical handling or performance features include
an AutoTrac 2-speed transfer case and a Class 7 trailer
hitch. Optional additions for specific performance enhancements
are available, including skid plates or a limited-slip differential.
Safety and Security
The Envoy has dual front airbags, antilock 4-wheel
disc brakes and daytime running lights. Optional safety
add-ons include front-side airbags.
